This is the hardest work you will ever do for so little finished product but you might know us good old boys are hard to learn. The people in this picture are all very dear to me as we all attended the same church in Duncanville, Alabama.
From left to right we have John Sumner the Principle of our local Elementary School who will help any one with anything just let him know of your needs. Next Jerome Heaton a school teacher with the patience of Job and a love for all mankind. On the far right skimming we have Harry Stone another one of a kind individual that added greatly to the success of our Church. Then far back in the steam you find me at the far end of the cooker.
Now our intention when we started this venture was to make some money. Like many of our adventures we wind up giving most of it to people that can not afford what ever we have. After this work of growing the crop, harvesting, squeezing and cooking I think we gave over half away on the way home. We leave a lot to be desired as business men but no one has more fun than us.
Many memories are here in this picture for anyone that has a rural upbringing. The old International truck, the rich pine wood cured and ready to provide a hot fire required for cooking. When I color this picture I only do the fire and a light green on the ground where the skimming is thrown.
