Cullman County Alabama
Clarkson Bridge was built in 1904 to span a deep gorge on Crooked Creek. Crooked creek gathers the spring rain changing it into dangerous debris filled waters flooding its banks.
This bridge is two hundred fifty feet long in a two-span Town bridge truss system. Today the Clarkson - Legg Covered Bridge is an impressive old structure that is the focal point of a park featuring a gristmill and old farmhouse. This bridge was restored by the Cullman County Commission in 1975, which marks the opening of this park area.
To find this beautiful Old bridge take U.S. 278 west from Cullman to Bethel, proceed on county road 11 for half a mile then turn left into the park area. This bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
